Nov 22, 2022I really liked this one. Its not nescasary a scary movie, but the sounds in the movie are pretty gross! Its so well filmed. I wish there was more like this. Well done.

Nov 22, 2022I discovered Bite by watching one of those "Top 10 best horror movies" videos on YouTube, and this film reminded me why I do not usually follow suggestions of those videos. From all the titles presented, one of the most interesting and different was precisely this one. The story is really basic: a girl during her bachelorette trip abroad, is bitten by a mysterious species, and when she comes back home, she start to transform in some kind of big, dangerous bug. This is it. And honestly if she went on a hospital to check her infected sting, and not simply call her physician that was not available, the movie would be resolved in like 10 minutes. It doesn't make any sense, but I don't want to be too brainiac about it and let's suppose that she did not get medical attention, because in her subconscious she was already linked to her baby flies, and she did not want to "kill" them with a cure. Still two are the things that I cannot justify: 1. The movie is entirely settled in a block of apartments and there are many scream scenes, apparently inhabitants of this complex are completely deaf, because nobody call the police. 2. The two best friends of Casey (the main character), Jill and Kirsten are in my top 10 as the silliest characters that I have ever saw in a movie. I mean, it's good that you worry about your friend, but when you see that her apartment is full of nests, maybe go inside is not the smartest decision. These are only the two most ridiculous things, but in general the whole movie is a big plot hole. It does not make any sense, and it is also very slow. They could have made a more interesting movie if they started with the Casey's story as a beginning for an international plague, or something similar, that would be an interesting movie. I have to praise makeup and practical effects that were very good and convincing, but that's it, there is nothing more. Movie's slow, even if it is only one hour and a half long, and the ending is just a joke. Do not suggest it at all.

Nov 22, 2022Body horror. It's for people who love movies like Cronenberg's The Fly, or Carpenter's The Thing, it's the kind of horror that makes some people throw up or feel faint watching it. Now we have Bite. A POV shot horror about a girl on vacay with some friends. She gets bitten by what seems like any other insect, but when she returns home, s*&t gets real. Where this flick excels, is with its visual effects. Creators Black Fawn are true horror genre lovers and it shows, with Practical Effects being used for everything. The nest. The eggs. The way our heroine 'changes' . It's really well done and sometimes hard to watch. The negs. Well simply put, the effort is put into the effects, but the story and the acting is so-so. It's just all surface. By that I mean, The Fly was about people's fear of AIDS . The Thing is a movie that looks at isolation and paranoia. Bite is just a movie about a girl being bitten by an insect and turning into an insect herself. You could argue it represents her insecurities but I just don't by it. So check this one out, if Body Horror gets your gory juices flowing and I give Bite....
