Sep 15, 2025What is with all the criticism of this action packed film? People are complaining because there's too much action and not enough plot? That's what makes it great. Somebody is complaining that the scene with the motorcycles is too over the top? Too over the top? I've been waiting forever for a martial arts film that's over the top. What do I want in a martial arts film? Action. What don't I want. Talking. This is basically just one huge fight scene from beginning to end with classic moments reminiscent of some of the best martial arts films ever made. What makes it wonderful is that it's still so true to the low budget artistry of the original. It doesn't make any excuses for what it is. The guy gets his elephant stolen so he beats everyone up until he gets it back. What more do you want? He kicks people while his feet are on fire. Lightning bolts fly from his feet as he fights on live subway tracks. He even bungee jumps off a bridge. What more do you want from a martial arts film? Dialogue? I give it a score of ten for being so bad ass and true to the artform.
