May 23, 2023Since I enjoy Jane Austen movies, I eagerly waited for this film to be released. It was everything that I hoped it would be: an enjoyable story in a different era of respect and courtesy, before the hustle/bustle of modern technology. I liked it so much that thought of going back the next day to see it again! In the same way that my friends enjoy superhero movies, I can enjoy a movie that is not 100% real-life accurate (Spiderman is not historically accurate, but we enjoy it, right?). All of the characters added something to the film. I enjoyed Malcom's mom and her words of wisdom. I found Malcom endearing as a man who can be introverted/contemplative and wants a sincere and intelligent bride. My favorite character was Selina; she was a good role model in that she was very kind, but repeatedly stood up for herself and did not let anyone disrespect her. It was nice to see the strength and healthy boundaries that she found in the end. I have had friends like Julia, so it felt vicariously rewarding to see Selina put her in her place. Overall, it's a cute story. If you are looking for a nice afternoon out and can enjoy yourself with a film of mostly respectful people who find their way in the end, then you will like it!

May 23, 2023I l loved the costumes, cinematography and the acting was good but thought the casting was a stretch. I really felt like Mr Malcom's List was a culmination of movie themes from all of the above mentioned films. Not an Oscar contender but otherwise.

May 23, 2023Love, friendship, betrayal and personal growth - it's all here wound in a web of fun - absolutely loved this Regency era Romance - Brings us back to what we look for deep down in our heart of hearts - sincere love just for who we are and it is a beautiful discovery Please note the picturesque Irish countryside musical score is lovely and played in my head for days and don't miss the quirky artwork - a little like news reports in that era - both during the film and during the end credits. To anyone who criticises it - Bah Humbug!
